10cm

So, so unique, this band.

First of all, you might be thinking: why is this band called 10cm?

You’ll never guess the reason. Not even if I gave you 10 guesses. So if you’re done guessing, here’s the answer. The reason for their name is that there are two members in the band, and… the height difference between them is 10cm. ㅋㅋㅋ

Moving on. Other than the absolutely fascinating meaning behind their name, this band is also another incredibly famous name in the k-indie world. Just like Urban Zakapa, they started off small and unknown, then shot to stardom, and now some of their songs are just as well-known as the popular idol songs that are always blaring from cellphone stores.

You’ll love them if:

• you can play the guitar (the chords aren’t very hard to play)
• you want to discover a unique voice
• you like fun lyrics
• you prefer acoustic music

There’s a reason for their popularity. One member plays the guitar and the other member sings, and the singer’s voice is so, so, so unique. Honestly, I have never heard a voice in k-indie (and definitely k-pop) that is similar to this guy’s voice. Not only is his tone unique, he sings in a very unique way too. It’s hard to describe (in other words, hurry up and give it a listen).

They also make great songs with (like many other superb k-indie bands) unique lyrics. You might know their most famous song, Americano – basically a song about the bitter drink and how much they love it. Or you might have heard this song drifting out of speakers during the spring season. The song speaks about how annoying couples are during spring and the sincere hope that their relationship will be destroyed and disappear, just like the cherry blossom petals falling from the trees. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Honestly, they’re amazing. They don’t just make songs with funny lyrics though. They have a song that many people can probably relate to. The title might make you hesitate, but the lyrics are very raw and relatable if you’ve ever had feelings for someone who seemed way too good for you, and you see no hope in them liking you back.
